Who is a cool kid?

I don’t get tagged in a myriad of Instagram posts documenting different occasions. I don’t get invited to birthdays and barbeques to the point where I’m double booked. My unchecked whatsapp chats never exceeds twenty at one time and my call log usually consists of my parents, spouse and siblings. Consequently, I’ve come to realise something from all this. That it points to one blindingly loud conclusion; I’m not one of the cool kids. And whilst my ego was momentarily bruised upon this epiphany, I am content with saying; that’s ok.

Firstly, a “cool kid”. Now, we may all have different definitions of what constitutes a “cool kid”; but for the sake of clarity, lets me describe how I would define it. Generally speaking, someone who has a large group of friends, is regularly invited to different things by people, whether that be a close friend or an acquaintance, even if they don’t know them that well, they just want them there. I imagine the cool kid as when there is a discussion amongst a friend group happening, everyone else is waiting eagerly to hear what the cool kid has to say; their opinion being the right one of course and everyone else following suit.
