Book Review: Powerless- Lauren Roberts

Ok this might be another one of those books that I didn't love because I'm just too old fashioned lol. Hear me out.

A few months ago I read Divine Rivals, my first real foray into fantasy romance and I absolutely loved it. So of course I did the logical next step; bought more fantasy romance.

I picked this up after seeing some buzz around it online (and because it was 99p on kindle ngl)

I liked the premise. The idea of elites and ordinaries, the hierarchy of people and their respective value ie elites being the top of the food chain and ordinaries being hunted and wiped out. It was giving pure blood, half blood, mudlood energy if you know what I mean. I liked the idea of the resistance, another example of fiction understanding the role and legitimacy of resistance against oppression and tyranny where, in the real world, such a sentiment becomes too complicated. But alas, I digress.

Ok the romance. Initially it was fun, in the way only enemies to lovers can be. However, and this is where I start to dislike. For the entirety of the book, even amidst some of the most high stakes moments, the two leads, Paedyn and Kai, find themselves in constant flirty banter.
