Book Review: How to make money — Nafisa Bakkar
I read this book last month for the Amaliah Book Club (which was so lovely and wholesome btw) and I genuinely see it as an investment in myself and my career.
How to make money is a practical guide on building a business. Written by the CEO of Amaliah, its a book that's full to the brim with practical tips, professional insight and personal lessons. Nafisa really did not gatekeep with this one.
The thing I appreciated was that it is a book that provides actual practical and actionable advice, rather than a book mainly consisting of motivational fluff that inspires you for a week, but when that dies down, you're back at square one. The chapter summaries/questions at the end were also very helpful.
I found the chapter on imposter syndrome, or rather the myth of it, particularly interesting. It pretty much reframed how I saw the whole subject. So much so that I wrote a medium blogpost on it.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is trying to build something from the ground up, or, like me, is figuring out direction they want to take their career in.
And just as a sidenote, it definitely warms my heart to see someone from the Muslim community doing so well mA♥️
